Assessment of Corrosion Education
Appendix D
Short Courses on Corrosion
Because there was such a wide range of short courses, the committee chose to present them in a tabular format so that the reader could easily learn the focus of the course, the topics it covered, the length of the course, and the organization offering it. The courses are classified as general, platform-specific, or technology-specific.
The information in this appendix was gathered in a brief search during the summer of 2007 of Web sites, supplemented by input from committee members. The tables include most of the U.S. institutions offering continuing education and providing administrative, logistical, and curricular information about the corrosion-focused or corrosion-related onsite or online courses or modules they offer. The listings also include some certification courses that qualify individuals to be inspectors of products or processes or operators of platform- or technology-specific systems and equipment intended to prevent or mitigate degradation due to corrosion. Inclusion in these tables does not indicate committee endorsement of a course, nor does it attest to the quality of the instructor(s) or the technical content of the course.
The information is organized into three tables: courses offered by universities (Table D-1), by professional societies (Table D-2), and by private vendors (Table D-3).
