In general, information on the dollar amount specifically targeted for school health programs was not available. Brief Description
Medicaid pays for health services provided to low-income individuals who meet eligibility criteria. There is a defined list of clinical services provided, including general health screenings, vision, dental, and hearing services and other medically necessary health services
EPSDT is a comprehensive preventive health program for Medicaid-eligible children under age 21. Through EPSDT, Medicaid-eligible children receive periodic health screenings, as well as medically necessary diagnostic and treatment services for conditions found through the screenings
FY 1994 expenditures: $979,836,854 (total Medicaid state and federal spending for children under age 21) (FY 1995 expenditures expected in May 1996)
