5) Shown on the following pages is a proposed bus instrument.pane] configuration. This
proposed instrument pane] contains an Operator Digital Assistant (ODA) to computerize
the input of route info, fixation. The ODA has the following features:
. Record passenger information electrorucally'.
For Example:
The letters A-F on the ODA can be prograrnrned (assigned) to specific
categories of passengers (i.e. token, senior citizen, children, etch Once the
category has been selected, the number of people in that category entering the bus
can be recorded. This will eliminate the need for the operator to write down any
passenger information by hand. At the end of the shift this infonnation can be
down loaded to a computer.
· Print transfer tickets.
· Compute the present miles per gallon.
· Connect to an inertial navigation system.
For Example:
The ODA will be able to provide the operator with the location of the bus
In relation to the route schedule. This feature will also play a prerecorded stop
announcement message.
· Automatically change the destination sit message for each stop.
Provided that the ODA is not used to monitor tndiv, dua] bus drivers and their
performance, would this device help you do your job?
