Because they reach individuals from high school through postdoctoral study, the 71 corporate programs are important tools that OUR uses to help identify students interested in science and engineering, to encourage them through their academic careers, and to help establish them as emerging researchers. With some thought and attention to where the populations of non-white students and faculty are and how to reach them, the same tools can be used to help increase the diversity of the pool of scientists and engineers.
