... survey of everything in the State of economic or scientific importance either in the "mineral, animal, or vegetable kingdoms." The surveys of soils and agricultural plants and animals has been taken over by the State College of Agriculture at Brookings; and later rulings of the Legislature confine the work of the Survey primarily to economic geology. ORGANIZATION The Survey is governed by a Board of Regents of Education who are directly responsible for it as part of their duties.
